Hollywood representatives and authors love PitchFest. PitchFest New York and Los Angeles resulted in 135 requests from the executives for more information on 91 different titles. Authors are calling it "the dream of a lifetime”.
WHAT:
BOOK-TO-SCREEN PITCH FEST, authors are invited tp join this glamorous event in Las Vegas – the Entertainment Capital of the World, where they will learn how to properly pitch their book to Hollywood executives from Bob Kosberg (“Hollywood’s King of the Pitch), and then apply the skills that they’ve learned in a “speed-dating” like pitch session where they’ll have the opportunity to pitch their work to a variety of Hollywood agents, managers, production companies, studio execs etc.
WHEN: Friday, March 23: Registration and Cocktail reception at the famed and renowned MGM Grand
Hotel.
Saturday, March 24: AM –a 3-hour “How to Pitch your Book” presentation and workshop with “The King of Pitch”, followed by “Speed Pitch” the opportunity to pitch your work to viable Hollywood entities who are looking for new material to option and adapt into feature film and/or television projects.

What to expect at the Book-to-Screen PitchFest:
Prepare.. Approximately one month prior to the event, you’ll receive a pre-event assignment that will help you develop and jumpstart the first draft of your pitch.
Welcome. On Friday, March 23, you will meet onsite at the landmark MGM Grand Hotel** in Las Vegas, Nev., for an evening of cocktails and introductions. You’ll be introduced to Robert Kosberg, known in Hollywood as one of the best idea men and producers in the business. You'll also meet Marcus Chait, director of film and new media for Author Solutions, and Keith Ogorek, senior vice president of marketing for Author Solutions.
Learn. On Saturday, March 24, breakfast will be served prior to Kosberg’s “How to Pitch Your Book” presentation and workshop. You’ll learn practical pitching methods with step-by-step processes outlined by Kosberg.
Practice. At the end of Kosberg's seminar, you will participate in the group Pitch Practice and will present to your group leader, Kosberg, Chait or Ogorek. Your group leader will provide tips to improve and perfect your strategy. You'll also have the opportunity to learn from the feedback given to others.
Pitch. Following a lunch break, you will meet with representatives from a variety of agencies, studios, and management and production companies at the Speed Pitch. You will present your rehearsed and refined pitch for approximately two minutes per company represented. If a rep is interested in your pitch, you will be informed a few weeks after the event that they'd like to read your book and/or schedule a follow-up meeting.

Opportunity. The entertainment representatives will vote on the top two pitches of the day. These two authors will be given an exclusive opportunity to pitch to a prestigious Hollywood player.
Wrap up. Kosberg will lead a closing review session to conclude the conference. Feedback: After the conference, we will send you a feedback packet regarding how the various representatives responded to
your pitch.

Irony and Enigma

Well, here we are ... right at the beginning of a brand new year, not even yet mid winter solstice and I’m living like a nomad carrying out habitual visitations to the false promised land. Not that I hadn’t prepared myself - I put all my focus on an endeavor that struck me as being very weighty in importance.

Too bad I’ve been having so much difficulty finding others who sense the same urgency as I do .. I understand, it’s some black guy’s kooky idea, but still, there are supposed to be such things as friends.

Oh, I do have a few peeps I’m happy to call acquaintances at the place where I currently work - no offense .. I just have a family philosophy about the having of real “friends”. My Grand (uncle) father believed that one could have no more than but a handful of friends in their lifetime .. and that was way back in his day! I understand the principle. I think true friends are people that can become closer than siblings. A true friend would tell you when you’ve got a booger dangling from your nose .. so much more so would they tell you if you’ve got bad press surfacing about your life, lifestyle, or habitation.

Anyhoo, I’m still waiting for the big event! Some life changing occurrence to offset the mockery that I seem to have become, striving to the ends of both sanity and insanity in order to achieve my irresistibly compelling aspirations. I wish there were a better way to prosper on this earth, but even Noah ran into likened irreverence when he brought unfathomable technology to the people of his time.

I’m thankful to be privileged to function in this capacity, and provide a witness in a very unique way. I’m saddened by those who can do nothing but fault find, and I’m hopeful that those on the fence will begin to take an interest in the things I have presented in an intelligible manner.

Fast Track to Success?

I’m not so sure it’s the fastest track to progress, but it certainly is a step in a different direction than that which I’ve once pursued. I got fortunate, finding a company who is actually hiring in this downed economy. Harrah’s Racetrack, Slots, and Tables in Chester PA was magnanimous enough to put several job seekers through the process of hiring, and I happen to have been one of those lucky ones! I got my non-gaming license, and I’m currently in orientation training to work for the company. Not at all what I was looking for, although it certainly is a welcome occurrence, as rotten as the job market has been for the past several years. I figure, get my foot in the door, make some new connections, new friends, and keep hope alive. If there were anything more advantageous I’d pursue vigilantly .. maybe Primerica? Yea, I’ve also been looking into how to better structure my investment dollars with this company, having found an old friend doing rather well with the business. Just hoping to keep my heart high and encouraged through these new changes.
